Giuliani Caused
#7 WTC Collapse

by Robert Lederman

As stated in my articles since 9/11 and now confirmed by Federal investigators [see NY Times article below], the collapse of #7 WTC was caused by thousands of gallons of diesel fuel illegally stored in the building by former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. Was this incredibly dumb move an accident, an oversight or part of a specific plan to eliminate incriminating evidence?

The NY Times article notes that the cause of the collapse was very similar to that which brought down the Federal building in Oklahoma City. The similarities go much further than the interactions between diesel fuel, the laws of physics and the strength of structural steel.

Both the Murrah building and #7 WTC were the home of high-level Federal offices including those of the CIA, Secret Service and FBI and were the storage centers for millions of files in ongoing criminal investigations involving the Mafia, banks, international drug dealing, money laundering and terrorism. Many researchers believe these files included very incriminating material on the Bush family, major U.S. corporations, the Saudis and other players in the so-called war on terrorism. Did "terrorists"destroy these buildings or did elements within our own government?

According to previously published news articles excerpted below Giuliani was warned by both the FDNY and high-level NYPD officials that storing the fuel in the building was illegal and violated numerous aspects of the fire code. Adding to the illogic of building his supposedly bomb and fire proof $13 million bunker there, the WTC was the single building complex in the U.S. most expected by experts on terrorism to be bombed, have a jet flown into it or otherwise to be attacked.

Might this be part of why Giuliani ordered all the steel beams from the WTC to be sold as scrap and melted down before they could be examined? Are the details of how he came to the decision to locate his bunker in #7 WTC among the 2,000 cases of public documents Giuliani stole immediately before leaving office and is now hiding from public scrutiny in a private warehouse in Queens?

Amidst all the absurd tributes to his greatness, when will the media gets around to asking America's phoniest hero these very questions?

EXCERPT: NY Times 3/2/2002
By JAMES GLANZ and ERIC LIPTON

Burning Diesel Is Cited in Fall of 3rd Tower

"Massive structural beams that functioned as a sort of bridge to hold up the 47-story skyscraper known as 7 World Trade Center were compromised in a disastrous blaze fed by diesel fuel, leading to the building's collapse on Sept. 11, investigators have concluded in a preliminary report...As much as 42,000 gallons of diesel fuel was stored near ground level in the tower and ran in pipes up to smaller tanks and emergency generators for Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani's command center, the Secret Service's office and other tenants...Investigators have determined that the burning fuel apparently undermined what is known as a transfer truss. The trusses, a series of steel beams that allowed the skyscraper to be built atop multistory electricity transformers, were critical to the structural integrity of the building and ran near the smaller diesel tanks. A failure of the same type of structural bridge contributed to the collapse of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City when it was bombed in 1995. Federal guidelines for public buildings, created in 1996, warned of the dangers of such trusses in terrorist attacks...Fire officials did at one point question the storage of large amounts of fuel well above the ground level, saying that one large tank for the mayor's command center, if ever compromised, might fuel a fire that would threaten the building...Dr. John D. Osteraas, director of civil engineering practice, Exponent Failure Analysis Associates, in Menlo Park, Calif., reviewed videos of the collapse, discussed it with other engineers and came to a similar conclusion; the fuel, the trusses and the fire brought 7 World Trade down. "The pieces have come together,"he said. "Without the fuel, I think the building would have done fine."

Giuliani's $15.1 Million
'Emergency Control Center

"Mayor Rudolph Giuliani is now bracing for a whole other order of urban treachery and cataclysm by building a $15.1 million emergency control center for his administration...bullet-proofed, hardened to withstand bombs and hurricanes, and equipped with food and beds for at least 30 members of his inner circle."

City Had Been Warned of
Fuel Tank at 7 World Trade Center

"Fire Department officials warned the city and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in 1998 and 1999 that a giant diesel fuel tank for the mayor's $13 million command bunker in 7 World Trade Center, a 47-story high-rise that burned and collapsed on Sept. 11, posed a hazard and was not consistent with city fire codes. The 6,000-gallon tank was positioned about 15 feet above the ground floor and near several lobby elevators and was meant to fuel generators that would supply electricity to the 23rd-floor bunker in the event of a power failure. Although the city made some design changes to address the concerns - moving a fuel pipe that would have run from the tank up an elevator shaft, for example - it left the tank in place. But the Fire Department repeatedly warned that a tank in that position could spread fumes throughout the building if it leaked, or, if it caught fire, could produce what one Fire Department memorandum called "disaster."

Daily News Chief of Investigations

Firefighter Mag Raps 9/11 Probe

"A respected firefighting trade magazine with ties to the city Fire Department is calling for a "full-throttle, fully resourced"investigation into the collapse of the World Trade Center. A signed editorial in the January issue of Fire Engineering magazine says the current investigation is "a half-baked farce."The piece by Bill Manning, editor of the 125-year-old monthly that frequently publishes technical studies of major fires, also says the steel from the site should be preserved so investigators can examine what caused the collapse. "Did they throw away the locked doors from the Triangle Shirtwaist fire? Did they throw away the gas can used at the Happy Land social club fire? ... That's what they're doing at the World Trade Center,"the editorial says. "The destruction and removal of evidence must stop immediately."Fire Engineering counted FDNY Deputy Chief Raymond Downey, the department's chief structural expert, among its senior advisers. Downey was killed in the Sept. 11 attack. John Jay College's fire engineering expert, Prof. Glenn Corbett, serves as the magazine's technical editor. A group of engineers from the American Society of Civil Engineers, with backing from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, has been studying some aspects of the collapse. But Manning and others say that probe has not looked at all aspects of the disaster and has had limited access to documents and other evidence. A growing number of fire protection engineers have theorized that "the structural damage from the planes and the explosive ignition of jet fuel in themselves were not enough to bring down the towers,"the editorial stated."

NY TIMES December 25, 2001 THE TOWERS

Experts Urging
Broader Inquiry in Towers' Fall

"In calling for a new investigation, some structural engineers have said that one serious mistake has already been made in the chaotic aftermath of the collapses: the decision to rapidly recycle the steel columns, beams and trusses that held up the buildings. That may have cost investigators some of their most direct physical evidence with which to try to piece together an answer. Officials in the mayor's office declined to reply to written and oral requests for comment over a three- day period about who decided to recycle the steel and the concern that the decision might be handicapping the investigation...Interviews with a handful of members of the team, which includes some of the nation's most respected engineers, also uncovered complaints that they had at various times been shackled with bureaucratic restrictions that prevented them from interviewing witnesses, examining the disaster site and requesting crucial information like recorded distress calls to the police and fire departments..."This is almost the dream team of engineers in the country working on this, and our hands are tied,"said one team member who asked not to be identified. Members have been threatened with dismissal for speaking to the press. "FEMA is controlling everything,"the team member said...Dr. Frederick W. Mowrer, an associate professor in the fire protection engineering department at the University of Maryland, said he believed the decision could ultimately compromise any investigation of the collapses. "I find the speed with which potentially important evidence has been removed and recycled to be appalling,"Dr. Mowrer said.

Second Union Leader Is
Charged With Trespassing
in Demonstration at Ground Zero

"This comes right from the top,"Capt. Peter L. Gorman, head of the 2,500-member Uniformed Fire Officers Association, said after surrendering - under the threat of forcible arrest, his lawyer said - at a police station in Manhattan to be booked on the misdemeanor charge. Kevin E. Gallagher, president of the 9,000-member Uniformed Firefighters Association, also blamed the mayor after his arrest Saturday night. "The message the city is sending is that if you don't agree with what a union says, you simply arrest its president,"Tom Butler, Mr. Gallagher's spokesman, said..."The mayor fails to realize that New York City is not a dictatorship, where if you don't like what a union is doing you can just go and lock up a union's president,"the firefighters' union said. "The message being sent from City Hall is that if you don't agree with this administration, we will get you."Captain Gorman, a firefighter for 28 years, called his arrest an outrage. "They're putting me through the system like I'm a thug,"he said. He called the mayor a "fascist"and referred to Mr. Kerik and Mr. Von Essen as "Giuliani's goons."

Hill's admission came four days after it was revealed that prosecutors were investigating allegations of vote fraud, tainting what was widely considered as Mayor Rudolph giuliani's most important labor relations victory. The two-year pay freeze helped Giuliani balance the city's budget. And Giuliani used the District Council 37 contract, which covers social workers, engineers, data processors, clerks and dozens of other categories, as a lever to pressure firefighters, sanitation workers and other unionized workers to accept similar two-year pay freezes.

A Knee-Jerk With a Twist

The English language takes a beating at times when Mayor Rudolph Giuliani takes umbrage. The latest mayoral invective involves variations of the term "knee jerk,"which literally means the involuntary kick that usually comes when the knee is struck lightly to test reflexes. It is most often used to criticize liberals, as in "knee-jerk liberals,"which might make it no accidental usage from Republican Giuliani. The mayor turned the adjective on its ear this week in discussing pending legislation on installing fire sprinklers when he criticized unnamed "people who knee-jerk and want to criticize"about the issue after four people died in a high-rise fire in Manhattan. Also this week, the mayor said those who criticized the huge subsidy for the New York Stock Exchange to keep it in the city were "knee-jerking and kind of like just increasing prejudices and biases."People who question whether the city is overreliant on the financial sector were written off as "the same knee-jerkers."At another point, he referred to an idea as "knee-jerky,"which apparently does not mean dried knee meat.

Rudy Campaign Donor
Got Ambulance Pact

MAYOR Giuliani attended a Senate-campaign fund-raiser at the Brooklyn headquarters of an ambulance company that later became the first private service to join the city's 911 system. The mayor's private schedule, obtained by The Post through the Freedom of Information Law, shows he allocated 45 minutes to visit the offices of Metrocare on the evening of March 10, 1999. Steve Zakheim, Metrocare's chief operating officer, insisted the money he raised for Giuliani had nothing to do with the Fire Department's decision this year allowing voluntary hospitals to subcontract their ambulance services... Campaign records show Zakheim and his wife, Suzanne, each contributed $5,000 to the mayor's political action committee. Four other Metrocare executives chipped in an additional $5,500...Patrick Bahnken, president of EMS Local 2507, said the contributions and Zakheim's role as co-chair of a Giuliani fund-raiser in November should raise a red flag because the administration had previously opposed allowing for-profit ambulances into the 911 system. "How did a bad idea become a good idea?"asked Bahnken. "The only thing I can think of is Mr. Zakheim's contributions.

Officers' Widows Oppose Control of
Twin Towers Fund by Giuliani

The widows of 15 police officers killed at the World Trade Center threatened yesterday to take legal action to try to stop the Bloomberg administration from transferring control of the $160-million Twin Towers Fund to a private charity of the same name run by Rudolph W. Giuliani. In a letter to the city's corporation counsel, Michael A. Cardozo, a lawyer for the widows, asserted that it would be "a breach of duty"to transfer the money to Mr. Giuliani's charity, and he said that the city's two major fire unions supported his efforts to block the transfer. At the same time, Eliot L. Spitzer, who regulates charities in New York as the state's attorney general, is also raising objections to the proposed transfer, which must be approved in State Supreme Court before it can become final.

9/11 KIN RIP RUDY
BA$H FOR THE GOP

National Republicans aim to raise over $5.5 million at a "Salute to America's Heroes"fund-raiser in March - and some relatives of Sept. 11 victims are livid. Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, now one of the GOP's top assets, will be the only speaker at the National Republican Congressional Committee event designed to raise money for next fall's House races. "It's a shame that people are using Sept. 11th for an underhanded reason to propagate their own agenda,"fumed Mike Cartier of Give Your Voice, an advocacy group for relatives of civilian victims of the attack. Cartier - whose brother, James, 26, was killed in the attack - called the event "questionable"and compared it to money-making ploys on eBay and efforts to commercialize the tragedy. Uniformed Fire Officers Association vice president Jack Ginty, who was almost crushed in the collapse of the south tower, said it's "disgraceful"to hold such a fund-raiser. "It wouldn't be a problem if they raised $5.5 million and gave it to the surviving relatives who don't have insurance coverage or can't afford to send their children to college,"he said. The Democratic National Committee also blasted the event as "inappropriate."GOP officials said they're surprised at the complaints and denied the NRCC dinner exploits the terror tragedy, saying it's just about honoring Giuliani, Time magazine's man of the year. "He's an American hero and an international hero,"said Steve Schmidt of the NRCC. Schmidt termed it "offensive"for anyone to suggest the event tries to capitalize on the Sept. 11 attack, adding that it will feature a video on Giuliani's life and times - going back to his days as a federal prosecutor.
